Community Organizations Supporting Our SchoolPocahontas Elementary Character CouncilPurpose
The Pocahontas Elementary School Character Council is a form of student government where each classroom can provide and receive feedback about student-originated ideas and projects. It is comprised of two representatives from each class and staff sponsors. The PCC (Pocahontas Character Council) will meet once a month to discuss school-wide issues and take part in planning character posters or activities. The PCC could also take part in fundraising, community service projects, and school-wide activities. The PCC would also be used as a student counseling service when necessary. Mission The PCC fosters good character, pride, and school and community spirit within the school community. It increases the awareness of students’ rights and responsibilities, and encourages leadership skills while discouraging bullying. The council also promotes a positive civic community mindedness. Membership Two students will be chosen from each participating class(4th-8th). To be a member of the PCC, students have to be voted in as a member by their classmates. Students may not vote for themselves. Students may only serve on the council for one school year. Disciplinary measures will get a student removed from the PCC. Meetings Meetings will occur from 2:30-2:45 on the second Tuesdays of the month. More meetings can be scheduled if necessary. |
